Upcoming changes to Gmail app.
I just received some pretty sad news. The API that LauncherPro uses to access your Gmail messages (used on the Gmail widget and the Gmail dock notifications) is being removed in the next version of the Gmail app for Android 2.2 and higher. Apparently the API does not meet modern security standards.
What this means for LauncherPro users is once you update to this new version, your LauncherPro Plus Gmail widget, and LauncherPro Gmail dock notifications will stop working, and even potentially crash the launcher if you try to use them (I don’t have access to this upcoming version yet, so I cannot fully test it).
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that the Android team will come out with a revised API soon enough, so that we can re-gain our Gmail integration in LauncherPro.

I absolutely love Launcher Pro it is in my opinion the best launcher. It’s much better than TouchWiz which I still don’t care for no matter how many ways they revise it. My Launcher Pro now crashes all the time because of the upgrade to ICS. If I had known I would have stayed with Gingerbread 2.36. I hope you guys at Launcher Pro can get this issue with ICS fixed. Please don’t abandon me to Touchwiz!

I have the same problem of Launcher Pro Crashing. I used to use GoLauncher which I loved, but it ran a little slow on my little Samsung. Unless an update for Launcher Pro comes along soon, I will be forced to return to GoLauncher which apart from the speed, never crashed on me. A big shame since GoLauncher was free and I actually paid for this one.

Whether or not this is now abandonware, it has really changed the way I’ve used my crappy stock hero for the last 2 years. Did you know HTC pulled this joke on HTC hero owners? Stopped updating / support one year after purchase! That was 450$ back then this is 2$ and a fantastic app. Lay of the dude, either use the app or don’t. Use your 500$ PDA to call your mom more often instead of moaning about which screen moves faster than who the hell cares.

The folders are organized too bad and there aren’t on the appdrawer.

Yep – I think it’s time to stop believing. This great app is obviously dead as a dodo from the developer’s perspective. There’s absolutely no way a genuine effort is being made to update it, nor to post the occasional response to the many folk simply trying to find out where their favorite app is heading.
I have been using LPP for something like 2 years and I have ALWAYS come back to it after every ROM update, including miui. I am now using it on a galaxy nexus running jelly bean and it is smooth as ever, but I can’t get over the rude lack of feedback to loyal purchasers by the Dev. And don’t bother berating me about how cheap the app is. Most apps are – it’s a numbers game and keeping stringing people along so they will buy the thing without any real intent to improve the app or at least address what appears to be a big problem for some folk (I don’t give a shit about the gmail widget itself) is just plain rude and dedeceitful.
I’m off to check out the other launcher apps mentioned by folks.

DLauncher Pro is not working with android Ice Cream Sandwich, it errors out when you trying to run it. Several people are having this issue. Do you have a fix?

Why is Launcher Pro only focusing on supporting gmail? I need to see the unread emails in my corporate email (exchange server account) as it is possible in the TwLauchner. However, I like Launcher Pro much more due it’s many customization option. It looks like it was already requested long time ago to have the display of unread emails for non-gmail accounts in the dock for Launcher Pro, but there is no update in the forum. What is the status? When will this feature be released?

jesus jumping jiminy folks… SHUT UP and QUIT COMPLAINING about this launcher not having been updated. He’s still supporting it. He is a PERSON, not a company. He has a life, for god’s sake. I really REALLY don’t understand what people have in their brains when they moan and complain that something as great as LP isn’t being made better. It’s been a year, sure… but it’s been a top-shelf launcher for Froyo and Gingerbread for quite some time. Blah… had to vent that.
That being said – yeah, i check back here every month or so, hoping for a 2.0 or somethin’. I don’t go boo hoo and cry when what is still IMO the best launcher doesn’t top itself, though.
There are lots of windows applications that aren’t available anymore. Hardcore users HATE adjusting to the inevitable change, and those subtle differences can be quite irritating. This kind of thing is inevitable. Jesus people… everything has a lifespan. Stop being babies, find something else if you want to, keep LP if you don’t, keep hoping for an update – but for god’s sake, being a negative jerk doesn’t help anything.

Thanks for this awesome launcher. I’d love to buy the plus version but just waiting for to have transparent application drawer option in it. Hope you will add that soon.
