Upcoming changes to Gmail app.
I just received some pretty sad news. The API that LauncherPro uses to access your Gmail messages (used on the Gmail widget and the Gmail dock notifications) is being removed in the next version of the Gmail app for Android 2.2 and higher. Apparently the API does not meet modern security standards.
What this means for LauncherPro users is once you update to this new version, your LauncherPro Plus Gmail widget, and LauncherPro Gmail dock notifications will stop working, and even potentially crash the launcher if you try to use them (I don’t have access to this upcoming version yet, so I cannot fully test it).
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that the Android team will come out with a revised API soon enough, so that we can re-gain our Gmail integration in LauncherPro.

Its still the fastest launcher available.. but I need improvement. Folder like MIUI or ICS, appdrawer customization, horizontal scrolling on appdrawer, theme color customization ….. should be good on next update
… thx….

Anyone can post using Fede’s name. I just did and I’m not him. If he were truly ok I think he would write a new post not just a vague comment. I hope the real Fede is okay.

Mr. Carnales,
I continue to use your product on my Android phone. I follow you on Twitter. I try to keep up, and have tried to keep up, with any news on your fantastic launcher. But there are many that say you are remiss when it comes to updates or updating your user base on updates.
So I’m writing this open letter to you, and humbly requesting, can you please tell us? What is going on with LPP for Android phones? Have you ceased development on this? IS there an update in the works? When do you think you will be ready to release an update?
A lot of folks are very anxious to see what improvements will have been made to the best launcher app out there, and what unique features will make it surpass competing applications that have since been released and updated by the likes of ADW and Go.
I place my faith in you as an honorable developer and businessman, that you will indeed give us the straight story on what has become of Launcher Pro.
Kind regards,
James

I have been faithfully using LPP until recently. It is to the point that other apps have moved beyond LPP’s capabilities and that I am now moving to Go Launcher because other developers prefer to develop their apps against that API instead of the old and outdated LPP. I agree that it is very fast, but I have found myself having to work around LPP to get what I need out of my phone and I will no longer be using LPP. I think it’s somewhat ridiculous for Fredrico to post “I’m fine, and still working on LP” after all of the rants, questions and concerns of all the people who have bought his product. I think we all deserve a little more than that. I may look at LP again after an update, but I’m going to assume the latest post was put out simply to offer false hope to keep the purchases rolling in. I understand that people have lives and get busy with other things, but I think that after nearly a year, he could do better than that simple post.

I’m quite satisfied with this LP, my main goal was to get rid of the default launcher that had no flexibility to remove Sprint ID. I also have ADW, BUT I like LP better. I use yahoo more than gmail, so I don’t need notifdications. I have a small phone, so anything heavy will crash, a future update might just cause oroblems, we’ll see. For now, workes for me.

I changed my email address and was wondering if my purchase could be transfered.
