So, is this the full rewrite?
No
That really is the first thing youre asking? wow..
@fede: great work!
Am I being dumb. My version shows 0.8.4.1 still after installing and can’t find skin options? Thanks
about 2 years ago
Ignore that. Found them
Wow really cool! Maybe i’ll get into this myself. I’d like the calendar widget to look asif it is the stock widget, only way better!
Does anyone else get the feeling the new, rewritten version is never coming? If it was, why would Fede keep sinking so much time in adding new features to the original version? Just my $0.02 observation…
about 2 years ago
What a whiny little twat you are.
DOUCHE!
There are entirely too many people who have that feeling and are voicing it entirely too loudly.
Considering we have all already gotten what we have paid for, there is no need to approach new features with anything other than appreciation.
I do respect that you are not flaming like many are, and even though I disagree with your comment, I also disagree with comments like the ones posted in response.
More people on the internet need to talk like you.
Obviously my post was misinterpreted. I will own up to not appearing appreciative (though I truly am) for the numerous features that LauncherPro currently brings to the table. I was not intending to be ‘whiny’ or a ‘douche’ as others stated. However, as a paid customer and long time follower, I was simply stating an observation (read: my opinion).
For the record, if Fede didn’t want my opinion stated, he didn’t have to approve my original post. But he did. Maybe he, too, realizes that open communication is important.
We are all grown-ups here. Save the name calling for the playground.

I am sorry, but could you please tell me why do you think you need the rewrite? Do you understand what it is?
The re-write will bring LP up to date with the current Android SDK level(s) which should maintain, if not improve performance and stability of the launcher. All of this while hopefully reducing the memory footprint. Fede himself stated some time ago that the re-write was overdue. There are advantages to updating your code to current SDK levels as this lends itself to allowing the use of updated and improved APIs, both in the standard Android SDK and the Google API SDK package.
While some users of LP have newer phones with excess RAM, some users such as myself have older phones with very limited resources (OG DROID). Many of us suffer from slow repaint issues when returning to LP from other apps. This is not present, or at least not as prevalent, in other more recent launchers (Go Launcher EX, for example). I would love to stick with LP as I have been a long time fan. But, as others have mentioned, if other launchers do the job better then I may also have to part ways with LP. Sure, Fede already has my money for LP whether I stay or go, but having an outdated launcher will not attract new business.
Back to the original point… did I sufficiently answer your questions?

Any chance at moving apps to sd? Many would love you more for a great app!
Launchers dont do well on the SD card.
Great addition Federico, you keep improving what´s already great
about 2 years ago
still can’t find the skinning option ..
Wouldn’t mind seeing icons that can be resized, so we could pick the size of the dockbar icons
about 2 years ago
Or even their placement boundaries (?) resized (like non-resizable widgets) so we could do things like stretch it across two spaces to effectively center the icon..? haha I could be the only person who wants this
about 2 years ago
skinning option is win,but this guy right here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783427&highlight=LauncherPro
has a couple of premade skins and themes for launcherpro if you diidnt feel like fooling with it yourself.
Fede keep up the work:)
Really cool, can’t wait for more available options
about 2 years ago
awesome Fede – thanks for the tease!! (really, i really mean i appreciate it…not trying to be a d1ck here

Nice launcher. I wanted to make you aware of two bugs I’ve noticed that seem really simple to fix. 1. When using the option to disable the notification bar on the homescreen, the notification bar will always flash twice after unlocking the screen. 2. After a reboot, some apps that I have hidden in the app drawer will reappear (google apps mostly) until I restart launcher pro. If you fixed these bugs I think I would find myself totally satisfied with my purchase. FYI, I’m on a droid x running liberty 2.0 but these problems persist in froyo
about 2 years ago
Oh, and one last thing: it would be great if you could implement a way to clear missed call and sms notifications when the notifications are cleared from the notification bar, and vice versa. As it is, it’s very redundant to have to clear one and then the other. I know I can hide launcher pro’s notifications but I like them! Anyhow, keep up the good work and I wish you the best.

I downloaded the skin example zip file. How do you apply the skin theme?
Ummm, I’m not really sure what this whole convo is about ^, but I had a question. I downloaded it on my LG Optimus M, and it’s been working great, but the only problem is, when I go to place a full screen widget on my homescreen, or even just a half screen or quarter screen, it just says there isn’t enough room on the homescreen, even though there’s nothing there. I really don’t wanna have to go back to LG Home, please, please, help
about 2 years ago
the app it self works graet! i love how it lets me scroll and everthinf, but it wont let ma put a widget on, keeps sayin theres no more room, even tho the page is empty. plz help
about 2 years ago
I think this broke the feature where you click the to of the facebook widget to open facebook. Twitter works fine though. Anyone else experiencing this?
I am also experiencing this, otherwise, best launcher out there.
I really love the transition effects on GO launcher, is there any way to do those on here? Then this launcher would have EVERYTHING!
)
still haven’t figured out how to apply the themes….
Wow… SPB Shell 3D and Regina come out from no-where on android with good interface, usability and great looks.
Launcher Pro which has been worked on for ages, and has a good backlog to work from has come up with reworking widgwets………
Pfft – see ya later LP.
dude, its all about personal preference.
And LP costs like $2 while SPB shell 3D cost $12, its a big difference…
LP suits my needs, cheap and stylish
SPB Shell has been around long before Android mate , SPB have had the heads up for years , LP is still the best launcher for Android OS
about 2 years ago
There’s one thing I really would like to see in launcherpro.
A rss widget. It would be really nice.
Keep up the good work
Spb and regina are both crap. I got about 5 minutes out of each before I uninstalled. Gimmicky and not very practical.
OK, so I don’t get it. LP is a great launcher, and now we can skin the Widgets? What about skinning the LP itself? Now if you skin a Widget, it does not match the launcher window… seems a bit disconnected.
SPB has been around on windows mobile for the time frame yes but they are relatively new to droids (still over priced i agree). Regina was only mentioned as it’s free and still looks nicer.
LP needs to review the current competition and keep up other wise it will die…and to be honest, SPB and ADW are better these days (ADW reviewed transition effects long before LP as well).
Fede seems to be occupied with less interesting things and this mystical re-write :’-(
about 2 years ago
I agree Dave. I’ve been using Go Launcher for the past few weeks and am very happy with it. Unless Launcher Pro steps it up and releases something amazing then I’m moving on.
Hmm I also agree with Dave. It is nice to see that Fede keeps working on the software however I have to admit LPP gets overtaken by the competition. I tried Go Launcher and in 90 percent it was faster than LPP. I still prefert LPP but I think that some of the trasition and overall performance have to be improved otherwise it will be a matter of time when all of us will move on to something swifter and nicer.
Good luck Fede with the full re-write, I have been waiting on it for almost 5 months now…

How can I get my Pandora and Evernote widgets back?
I have a rooted droidx and no matter what I do launcher pro will not install on my phone. I tried over and over from many places and it will not install. Please help
about 2 years ago
Thanks for the great work Fede ,I would love to see the option to lock the homescreen so I don’t accidentally keep losing scrolling widgets (or accidentally moving them) .

can can launch pro work and htc thunderbolt

Can you please add gingerbread dock?
Hi, congratulations for your app. Its possible to increase the font in widgets? In my x10 mini pro it show very small
about 1 year ago
Absolutely love LP PRO+ on Huawei Asscend, the Widgets are awesome accept for the Facebook App. Has this been fixed?
Why does it not let me use lp widgets on my m860 tapout version it says no more room on home screen buy nothing is on home screen?
to get the latest version
So, as far as I see, half the whiners whine the rewrite is taking too long and fede should stop wasting time in this version, the other half whines there are no enough updates to this version because the rewrite takes too much effort……
I have the perfect solution. Have Fede drop both the original version and the rewrite, then everybody will be entirely happy, and demand a free nexus s as compensation to the loss of their $2.
I have the same problem as Steve mentioned above. Keeps saying I have no room for a widget when there is nothing on the screen. I am running the latest version on a Vizio_VTAB1008.

Hey LaunchPro App Developer,
Hope you’re doing well.
My name is Si and I work as a media buyer here at Tapit Mobile Advertising. I think your app is awesome.
I am currently looking to source new publishers to help allocate existing spend for our brand advertisers (Mini Cooper, eBay, Mitsubishi, Etc..) These advertisers have large budgets and are looking to secure more mobile inventory daily. As you are well aware the Mobile space is hot right now and these advertisers are willing to pay top dollar!
I see great value in working with you and would love a chance to further discuss TapIt! Mobile and how we can work together.
Thanks,
