LauncherPro Beta v0.6.0 on the Android Market!

The new LauncherPro Beta v0.6.0 is here and it brings the goodies! It includes a few bugfixes and some exciting new features.

Here’s what’s new:

Fixed the bug where the app drawer’s home button would show for a second after coming back from an application.
Fixed screen previews when choosing to have 2 homescreens
Fixed some folder-related bugs when 5-row option is selected.
New screen indicator (optional). If you’re not using the homescreen dots in your dock, you can choose do display a small indicator at the bottom of the screen to know on which homescreen you are. You can enable it in the preferences
New: The app drawer button is now a regular dock shortcut. That means you can change its position, change its icon, or remove it entirely.
New: The dock has grown! Swipe the dock to the left (down in landscape) to reveal 5 additional shortcut spaces. Now swipe it again for 5 more! That makes a total of 15 shortctus. You can add the app drawer button on the new dock spaces by long-pressing on one and choosing “App Drawer”.
New: Option to keep LauncherPro in memory. When you’re running low on memory, the system usually kills LauncherPro, so next time you open it, it has to reload all widgets and icons which takes a few seconds. This option should keep the system from killing LauncherPro. If you experience any troubles with it, please disable it on the settings.

In the default settings the dock doesn’t have anymore the app. drawer. I had 2xMessage icons after updating to 0.6.0..i had to change the icon manually..
I think you should set the dock as you did till now..then the user can customize it as he want.
Anyway it’s getting better and better

Hi,
i update it for 3 min ago.

First they delet my doc icons. I must set it new.
do u now why?
In the middle was the messenger, the app drawer where lost and left and right was to X, i think for blank.

Only thing- for apps stored on SD in froyo, they don’t always appear in the dock until you switch between launcher pro and default- any idea why?

      What’s the difference in that and having normal icons on that screen? the point in the dock was quick access for most used apps no matter what screen you’re on

        #1: It’s easier to find icons in a dock than in a homescreen.
        #2: It frees up some space in the homescreens, so for example you could have only widgets in the homescreens, and shortcuts to your apps on the dock.

    That’s what I thought too…but it does seem quite easy to accidentally slide it over when you dont want to. I don’t have use for additional icons in the dock (since if i’m sliding, i may as well slide the screen and just have the icon on that screen). I agree that it would be nice to provide the ability to disable this. BTW, love the work.

  I agree…I slide screens with my right thumb near the dock and have already accidentally slid the dock instead. Also 15 dock shortcuts = 14 more than I personally use, due to how brilliantly I can already switch through homescreens etc. with this app.

Any chance you could chose a “home” dock? so when you press home, the dock also goes to the middle (I use the middle 5 incons as my previous and added 5 on the left and 5 on the right)? That would be a nice feature.

any way you can make it so if i don’t set the app launcher icon, and instead put 5 other icons, i can just swipe up and the app launcher would come up.

Same as post #1 – I had 2xMessage icons after updating to 0.6.0 in the dock. I just changed them back to how I had them before.

Oh c’mon man your spoiling us rotten!!! lol. For some reason when I choose a custom icon launcher pro force closes now =[ And can we get an option to reduce the short cuts in increments of 5 ? I don’t need all fifteen make just 10.

Love the new sliding dock! Using it for quick dialing. Maybe the dock should return to home when sliding to the next screen/clicking the link/pressing the home button. I think first 4 icons should have priority.

Thanks for a great job. I have a SUGGESTION:

Can you make the widget also to not show their texts. Like I have Handcent SMS widget and its the only one on Homescreen which has ‘text label’ under it.

Even Folders has text showing under them but I understand that since if we don’t have that, all folders may look like.

  Yeah, will add that in a future update. It’s not as easy as just changing a number to 1, things get a bit weird with the code when there’s only 1 screen.

This is a really good launcher replacement.

I mean, it’s not like I know how hard it is to make a launcher replacement, but I’ve tried out at least six other alternatives on my Moto Droid and this one, to put it bluntly, rapes the everloving shit out of them. I think you have some real skills. Thanks for a great product and for supporting it 100% better than anyone would expect from you. You rock!

Great stuff! Almost exactly the same set of features I would have picked for the next release myself.

It does seem a little slower, though … but it’s worth it.

How about the option to set a color for the menu indicator? And to have it constantly visible, rather than only when scrolling?

Awesome update! However could you maybe give us the option to change the color of the screen indicator at the bottom of the screen? The clear “color” used right now is kinda difficult to see against a light background, ex. beautiful live wallpaper. Thanks and keep the updates coming!

Here’s a pretty far out idea…

While in “Leap View”, how about the ability to long press on the preview panel and enable the ability to move that page around to quickly reorder your home screens instead of having to move each widget/icon/folder individually???

With LP now able to stay in memory, I’m increasing my screens to incorporate some of the 4×4 scrolling widgets and this is tedious

Very impressive…..You did it again Fede…The sliding dock is awesome, it just let me eliminate one of my homescreens…down to 5….having a problem with beautiful widgets always saying ‘having problem loading widget’. Any ideas? Other than that , love your work…keep it up..thank you

I love the dock! What a great idea. Would it be possible to chose a default dock? For example, the second dock would make the perfect default for me because I would have one dock to the left and one dock to the right. I suppose this is only an issue if Launcher restarts, but that does happen sometimes (although your new option to keep it in memory seems to alleviate much of the restarting of Launcher) Thanks!

Stop complaining about the sliding dock not being optional…just like Fede said…SIMPLY DON’T SLIDE IT!!

Its not that hard of concept to get.

Personally, I love it, it made me go down to 3 screens only.

One last thing, to people saying that this update messed up their News and Weather widget, it is NOT this update! Its happening to EVRYONE! Doesn’t matter if you have Launcher Pro, a custom ROM, Froyo, its happening to everyone.

Stop being selfish by the way, He can’t please EVERY single one of you so if you don’t like any of his new features, there’s always ADW launcher waiting for you lol.

I have an idea/suggestion for the dockable icons. My idea is it possible make the dockable icons a continuous loop. So you can just slide in one direction either way. Maybe someone else can explain it better. Also if I have the dockable icons on the 2nd slide it switches back to the first one if I go to landscape mode.

I love this app. It is great. Two questions:
1) Are you gonna keep it free, even when it comes out of the ‘beta’ mode?
2) Can you work on the efficiency of the algorithm so it runs slightly more smoother?

Please make a setting to disable the scrollable dock, and just have one row of 5. I do not want more than 1 row, because I always want the same ones to be on the bottom. Thanks!
