LauncherPro Beta v0.6.0 on the Android Market!
The new LauncherPro Beta v0.6.0 is here and it brings the goodies! It includes a few bugfixes and some exciting new features.
Here’s what’s new:
- Fixed the bug where the app drawer’s home button would show for a second after coming back from an application.
- Fixed screen previews when choosing to have 2 homescreens
- Fixed some folder-related bugs when 5-row option is selected.
- New screen indicator (optional). If you’re not using the homescreen dots in your dock, you can choose do display a small indicator at the bottom of the screen to know on which homescreen you are. You can enable it in the preferences
- New: The app drawer button is now a regular dock shortcut. That means you can change its position, change its icon, or remove it entirely.
- New: The dock has grown! Swipe the dock to the left (down in landscape) to reveal 5 additional shortcut spaces. Now swipe it again for 5 more! That makes a total of 15 shortctus. You can add the app drawer button on the new dock spaces by long-pressing on one and choosing “App Drawer”.
- New: Option to keep LauncherPro in memory. When you’re running low on memory, the system usually kills LauncherPro, so next time you open it, it has to reload all widgets and icons which takes a few seconds. This option should keep the system from killing LauncherPro. If you experience any troubles with it, please disable it on the settings.
How about that? I hope you like these new features as much as I do.

+1 for the option to disable the scrollable dock bar. Also, a horizontal iPhone/Galaxy S style drawer would be super awesome.

Oh and also, sometimes you website is inaccessible for me (from my desktop at work, home and my phone), even though http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ says it’s just me.. Don’t know why is that.

Stay in memory option made widgets stop updating, even beautiful widgets’ clock, only have 3 widgets and scrolling option is disabled. Milestone 2.1u1

The app is just as fast with all the options. If you do not like them, don’t use them.

It will be perfect launcher if only i can replace shortcut icons… I dont have a standard launcher (android) i only have Launcher pro as my first and only launcher, and because of that i cant use BetterCut….

can we add a feature where when you press home not only do the screens go to your middle screen but also the middle of the docking icons (since there’s three).

If you come out of any app and then do screen preview it lags. If you do another screen preview then no lag. But coming out of an app and then doing a screen preview right after causes lag. Hope I am making it clear, hope you can find a fix.

With notification hidden, Fancy Widget’s temperature text almost goes out of black box. With notification bar revealed, Fancy Widget displays correctly. Not sure whether this is Launcher Pro or Fancy Widget’s bug.

Great product. Is it possible to add a folder to the sliding application dock bar at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, really nice, some FC’s using 2.1-update 1. Love it.

Hi. I’m a big fan of LauncherPro, thanks for this great program. Still a bit afraid that it might turn into a bloatware – please keep it as small and efficient as it is now! For example I find the new scrollable drawer already unnecessary – the point of the drawer is for those few apps to be available without scrolling. If i need to scroll, I can just put those icons on the home area.

absolutly a great app. works great on moto droid 2.1.
suggestions:
ability to use 256×256 png icons found everywhere on the web for free. have a algorithm that reduces the sautomatoclyicly.
add a simple widget to allow for those same icons to be placed on home screens in the same manner.
fix delay on adding an application shortcut.
ability to add more themes/skins to the bar.

Coming out of an app and then doing Screen Preview or App Drawer or Screen Scrolling cause lag. However, the second time, it does not lag. Please fix these, it makes it really annoying.

This is the only lag/speed-related issue I have with the release. After pressing Home while in an app or browing or whatever and then quickly scroll to another homescreen causes a bit of lag, the homescreen just moves a bit later. But that’s it.
The biggest feature I’d like to see in one of the next releases is the option to move certain apps to some kind of ‘Ignore list’ in the Preference menu or whatever, so they don’t show up in the App drawer anymore. I sometimes have these add-on apps that just do nothing but take up space in the drawer.

Awesome app.
One suggestion to the author:
Give us the option to make the bottom dock to always be on top. This would be very useful as I like putting my everyday functions such as “Phone” “Messages”, etc there and would be cool to be able to access those quickly without having to return to the Home Screen.

ICON QUESTION:
I love the LauncherPro Icons for the bottom dock. Is there a way to expand the number of those? For instance, one for “Video”?
Also, could you add a feature where the user could scan for other “Icon Packs” on their SD and use those? There are Icons out there quit similar to the LauncherPro icons I’d like to use but cannot access them.

I love LauncherPro, super work Fede. One bug and one request if I may:
First, I’d love to be able to disable the dock scrolling.
Second, there is an issue running Froyo builds. It could of course be Froyo, but it only shows up in one LauncherPro feature that the default launcher doesn’t have. I do NOT run in 5 row mode, but occasionally when coming out of an application when in landscape mode, LP will come back with 5 rows and the dock is what occupies the 5th row. Several rotations of the screen will once again pin the dock where it should be, but this is a bit of a pain. I will go back to 0.5.4 and try to see if this issue remains.

I am noticing some force closes also, and also when I use the multiple screen previews, sometimes they all scrunch up in the upper left, instead of spreading out across the screen like normal.

This latest update started off well, but lately I am getting a lot of foreclosures and it runs very sluggish at times. I love the added features, but miss the speed and reliability!

Could you make it so when you select notification bar to be hiddne, that it shows when you have a message or email in there?
As I would like to disable it, but then can’t see if I have messages as I have no widget, this would be awesome.

3 things I would really like:
1) The ability to reorganize icons inside a folder
2) The ability to assign icons to folders
3) The ability to change icons on a shortcut without having to reassign the shortcut (ie to change phone shortcut on the buttom bar I have to reassign it to phone and then choose the new icon)

I’m sure you know, but 3D drawer is kinda unusable right now. If you press and hold to slide, if you aren’t going fast enough it will simply drag the icon and try to place a shortcut on the homescreen.
If you clean up the 3D drawer I will die a happy man.

Will an android phone without an android UI be able to use other launcher programs(launcher pro beta)?
I’m planning on getting the Samsung Fascinate, i just wanna know if it is possible to use different launcher like the Nexus One Can?
