LauncherPro Beta v0.5.2 released!
The new version of LauncherPro Beta (0.5.2) is now available in the Android Market.
This one is for the tweakers and widget lovers. Here’s what’s new:
- Support for scrollable widgets like Pure Messenger.
- Option to disable wallpaper scrolling. This will keep your wallpaper centered at all times.
- New icon “glow” highlights. When you press/select an icon on a homescreen or the app drawer, they will show a glow around the icon instead of the usual yellow/orange box. You can disable this in the preferences.
- Option for high quality scrolling. This will keep your icon and widget graphics in high quality while scrolling. Be warned this will reduce scrolling smoothness though.
- Option to set minimum scrolling speed. The homescreen scrolling speed depends on how fast you swipe your finger. This will let you set a minimum speed, so that even if you swipe your finger slowly, LauncherPro will scroll *at least* as fast as your minimum scrolling speed.
- Option to set screen previews opening speed. Lets you tweak the speed of the screen previews opening/closing animation effect.
- Option to have 2 homescreens. You can now choose from 2 to 7.
- Made the background of open folders translucent. Also fixed a small visual glitch in open folders’ header graphic.
- New LauncherPro style icons for Maps, Navigation, Twitter and Facebook.

Love it. Although I can’t seem to use the back button to exit a folder anymore lol. Now I want pure messenger to see widget scrolling haha.

Great updates, but please make the transparency for folders an option. For some reason it’s killing the scroll smoothness for me, even with the Droid clocked at 1GHz.

Have u fixed the bug? When i have 7 homescreen and i ticked the “press home button to bring to default screen” instead of bringing the default screen to the 4th, its brings me to the 5th. With 7 homescreens, i thought the default screen is the 4th one which is the middle. Hope u can fix the bug/issue soon

You have to select the proper default screen in the preferences. If you have 7 screens, the middle one is the 4th.

Would love to see more options like 5-6 columns and 6-8 rows on homescreen.
More wallpapers would be awesome too!

Great app, this is better in beta then most production apps. Now with that said I have one problem, not major but if you get it to work it would be nice. I can add custom icons to the dock on my nexus one but on my EVO 4g I get a force close when trying to complete. I’m assuming its because of sense.
FYI I featured your app in a YouTube video on (how to customize your EVO), I’m trying to get the word out for you. Thanks in advance.

fixed scrolling issue with ability to tweak speeds, good update. but seems like using more cpu than previous versions, for me 0.4.3 was most efficient

disabled elastic scrolling seems to make it eat less cpu (smoother scrolling)

But BACK don’t close the folder. (Milestone/Droid)
And it was great to have a smaller size of the folderentries. Cause i put 4 folders at the bottom of the screen (4×5) and could switch directly the folders without closing.

Version 0.5.2 when drawer speed set to 10, the drawer doesn’t not render properly. Nexus+froyo.

This version lags a lot for me. Using HTC Magic CM5.0.7
So far, 0.4.x has had the best and most smooth scrolling for me. Updates after that have gotten choppy (but usable) and unfortunately, this one is the slowest one yet for me (not really usable, way too choppy)
It also seems like I’m not the only one who has reverted back to the 0.4x versions. Maybe you could release a version with the scroll settings from 0.4 and another with the current scroll settings and see what works better for people? Just a suggestion!
Reverted back for now. Hopefully things get better soon, thanks a lot for your work. I’d really like to use some of these new features soon.

Loving the updates aswell!!!
It seems my lockscreen picture is slightly out of place. I use 5 homescreens en number 3 is set as the primary homescreen. When I unlock the phone the wallpaper on the lockscreen is in the position of homescreen 4.

Setting the minimum scrolling speed doesn’t appear to change anything, unless I misunderstand what it is supposed to do. Droid w/ Froyo.

Nice update, although it seems this update brought some “jerkiness” to scrolling through home screens. If you scroll quickly before the elastic scrolling sets in, its nice and smooth. If you scroll a bit slowly so that the “elastic effect” is finished, it seems to jerk to the next homescreen. It is hard to explain, but it has only happened for me in this version…all the prior ones were smooth regardless.

Nice update, it’s the most usable home replacement I’ve seen on Spica!
How about having an option to save your screen layouts? It’s a bit disappointing to set everything back after a hard reset

BEST HOME APP PERIOD.
Just constantly gets better with frequent updates. Can’t say enough except to encourage you to continue with the amazing work.
A question/suggestion: Would it be possible to design an option where you change homescreens by swiping both sideways and up and down, and not just sideways? I.e. the five homescreens could be visualized as being layed out in a cross, and not in a row.
The advantage of this is that you can access all the homescreens with a maximum of just two swipes (where it is set to five homescreens), instead of, potentially, four swipes to get from a homescreen at one end of the line to another at the other end.

Love all of the updates. Definitley have no complaints with the current incarnation of the app. One question, would it be possible to begin to allow some customization to the app drawer? i’d love to be able to stick things in the app drawer into folders. I know this is a little Iphoneish but it’d be helpful. Also, can we get SD card storage for those of us on FroYo?

The Launcher is still one of the very best ones (besides Tab Home) but since 0.5.2 update it lost some of it’s great responsiveness (which was one of the biggest pluses in my point of view). :/

hi, thanks for the great launcher. would also like to have the option to turn on and off the folder transparency … it’s hard to read with transparent folder background.

Anyone else having issues with slow response when closing an app and going to the home screen? If I have an app open and hit my hone button it takes anywhere from 2 to 10 seconds before the launcher loads. I have rebooted a few times and nothing helps.

Not as responsive as before.. sometimes it takes several swipes before it changes screen and some times it doesnt respond at all. Ex if you wanna swipe 2-3 screens.. after first screen change there is no response until 3-4th swipe. Ive tested many things in the settings but no help. This started after new update. I see several others who have same issue. Great work and hope you can fix this issue quick… Im rolling back to older version.

Awesome launcher, I dig!!!
One request from alot of people I have read online is to have a transparent or black notification bar (in all apps & Home screen) to reduce burn in on the Nexus One. I know for a fact if you did this you would get alot of downloads!

LOVE this application. It is outstanding! I would be lost without it. I really like being able to organize all my apps in the various screens. I know this may sound crazy but I could really use a couple more screens….9 would be perfect

Love it so far since installing yesterday on Samsung Moment w/ 2.1. Better than stock and the ADW launcher I tried and then uninstalled. Much more intuitive/user friendly.
