LauncherPro Beta v0.1.2 on Android Market now!
Thanks for all the suggestions and bug reports so far!
Version 0.1.2 is ready to test, here is what’s new:
- Fixed interactivity with Live Wallpapers (I still hate those things, but oh well)
- Fixed the bug where pressing the home button after opening the SMS app triggered the screen previews
- New feature: You can now do a pinch gesture to bring up the screen previews! Simply pinch the screen and the previews will appear. Your phone must support multi-touch in order for this to work. The sensitivity of the gesture might need some tweaking, please let me know how it’s working for you in the comments.
That’s it for now. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to implement custom shortcuts on the bottom bar. Also, here’s a couple of things coming soon to LauncherPro:
- On-screen button to go from the app drawer back to the home screen
- Automatic landscape mode rotation for phones that don’t have a physical keyboard
- Customizable shortcuts on bottom bar

Hey, this is the smoothest and special launcher I’ve ever used. I am using motorola milestone. “force close” happens whenever I press on any shortcuts. But everything goes well when I press on any widgets. That’s the only reason I didn’t use as default launcher. Looking forward for some updates about this !

Pinch working damn smooth and great in N1.
The top status bar still cannot do semi transparent if not using Live Wallpaper. (Hope this soon being fix)

Btw, if you wanna take a look at my github, i think the “best” implementation for custom shortcuts is what i’ve created on the ActionButton.java and tweaked LauncherModel and LauncherSettings to add custom containers to use within the standard launcher model strutcure.

Wow! I posted on the suggestions post and here is the stuff I requested! The only thing I’d like is the option to use the screen indicator dots like on the Nexus One, instead of the dock, which I don’t use much. Thanks!

Could you maybe add the new dock they are adding in 2.2 for android? Its seen in this video right at the end http://stuff.tv/blogs/web/archive/2010/05/12/android-2-2-froyo-spotted-in-flash-10-1-demo.aspx if you add this your launcher will be the best available on android

Hardly seen any Beta Apps being that good
I’d like to see a back home button on Apps Menu,

I always experience a split second pause or hiccup after unlocking phone and immediately switching screen. Is it just me? (N1 user)

Really nice launcher.
Please dont do too much with it, keep speed as your priority.
Features I would like to see is customizable bar, however I like the grey icons u have. So if u make similar gray icons for the most common programs, gmail, maps so on.
It would be awsome if you could make an option to toggle text on all shortcuts and so on.
Whatever u do, options are good, if u add something, give users the option to toggle it on or of.
And please remember, speed speed speed!

Thanks for cool launcher, super fast one. but I have problem sometimes with force close on my Moto Milestone even latest update(0.1.2).

This just most likely will become my new launcher as soon as you fix the shortcuts at the bottom. I know you are working on a way to make them customizable, but I would like to see them stay the same grayed out color. Maybe have a few options to replace what is there and be able to link them up to what you want. Like the Browser button, could stay the same but would like to be able to link it to open Xscope. And a replacement icon for the contacts and replace it with one for the market. I just love the grayed out semi-transparent look of it. Keep up the good work.

If you can – consider making auto rotation an option. I personally don’t always want/like auto rotation – while others certainly want it.
Working great on the N1 though so far!

Could you make it possible to hide icons from the app drawer? When I have them on my home screen I don’t need them in the drawer. And would it be possible to have the 3d drawer back as it is in 2.1?

I would also like to see the “wrap around” effect that N1 has in the “app viewer/drawer”. Also a semi black transparent background/color in the stationary shortcut bar, or mabey even customizable color. Else it’s a great home replacement! Keep up the good work

I like the update! as far as the messaging thing because i hate seeing the preview screens when I don’t need it.
The pinch and preview is pretty cool only wish it followed the movement of my finger instead of automatically doing. (for eye candy purposes haha)
An idea for the custom shortcut:
when prompt for changing them you could have like an icon reel and we could choose one of those because your icons are sexy lol but thats optional.
Overal I’m loving this luncher and I will spread the word like I’ve been doing

Great Launcher app! Can’t wait for the update where we can customize the shortcuts on the bottom bar.
I was wondering if the ‘home’ button be for the home screen? You already madet the pinch/zoom feature to see all of the home screens, so you don’t need both for one feature.
I also second the semi transparent notification/status bar or have an option to change the colour.

Awesome launcher. Very fast and responsive. In terms of configuring the the dock, why not allow dropping shortcuts onto it, the same way AnderWebs does it on his launcher?

I like it a lot. I stopped using HelixLauncher cause it tended to be kinda slow even with only 4 screens. I haven’t loaded up the screens with widgets or apps yet but this one is very fast so far.

Contact pictures and names delay a bit when opening up. Is there a way to store this into the memory so it doesnt have to load icons every time i press home?
Otherwise im loving it and is my default launcher.

This program is awesome. Works great on Droid and 2.2 – very smooth. A couple of requests:
(1) A way to switch back to original home app without uninstalling.
(2) Import of icons/widgets from original home screens. I can’t remember everything I had on there!
(3) UI is unresponsive for about 10 seconds after screen comes up after a cold reboot. I know I need to be patient but it looks like everything is ready but nothing works at first.

Even overclocked, the stock Home app on my Motorola Droid has always seemed slow and clunky compared to HTC devices running SenseUI (which I dislike in favor of stock Android).
I have also never found an alternative launcher that held my interest until this one. The screen transition speed & smoothness of this launcher are absolutely incredible.
I am eagerly awaiting to have the ability to customize the icons on the bottom…. or better yet, the ability to have no icons at all on the bottom.
I’d also be willing to pay a reasonable price for this app on the Android market.

Unfortunately, I set this as my default launcher on my Samsung Moment (2.1 OS). Now I get forced close messages repeatedly. Still trying to figure out how to get past this issue since it prevents me from using everything except the phone.

NEED customizable bottom tray before switching from Helix1 (but I really really like the gray outline instead of full icons).
Unique native widgets and wallpapers are also a big plus (Helix1 doesn’t have any really).

anyway you can add the option to hide the texts on the shortcuts/icons that are placed on the homescreen, similar to HelixLauncher
it makes the homescreen look much better and less cluttered

This looks very promising. I LOVE HelixLauncher2 on my N1, but it is a bit laggy at time, makes me want to go back to Stock, however, I can’t go without the launch bar now that I have had it for so long.
As soon as you are able to make the launch bar customizable, then I will give this a shot.

Ok… This is very good app and I use it but this is beta version. But i want to tell you something. If you can add to this app:
- screen indicator
- themes
- modified icons of app in bottom dock
- more options of configuration

This home launcher is nothing short of incredible. Best home app out right now. There is a slight bug with the pinch gesture though. Every once in a while a widget will pop up in the multiple screen view mode as if I wanted to move its location. Would also love it if you could make the home button take you to your default screen if its not already there, and another press on your default screen would put it into screen view mode. Thanks for making such a great app!
